I am writing to say how much I appreciate your skill and care I received on the day you did my cataract operation and in the clinic beforehand. Full vision was immediate upon removal of the dressing with no hint of discomfort. Furthermore, the operation was unbelievably quick.

It is almost impossible to put into words how to say thank you for the care, attention and skill that I received yesterday. From the time I arrived in theatre until my departure an hour later I was treated with such kindness and understanding. I felt i must write to thank you most sincerely for the wonderful result I have obtained with the cataract operation you perfumed on my left eye. Words cannot convey the benefit I am feeling. Thank you again for giving me confidence, with your quiet, confident manner to go ahead with the surgery. I can honestly say that I never felt that it was going to go wrong. My
husband joins me in expressing our gratitude and we feel without a doubt that it was money well spent.

The result of my cataract surgery is so much more than I had expected and I would like to thank you and all concerned for the way the procedure was carried out.

I inherited my ‘droopy eyelids’, that I accepted until reaching middle age when I felt that they aged me and I found wearing mascara an impossible task. I decided to research blepharoplasty and Mr Whittaker agreed to surgery. I undertook surgery under local anaesthetic. I had an uncomfortable first night post operatively and had two to three weeks of facial bruising that was disguised by wearing sunglasses. I was delighted with the result and would recommend the surgery performed by Mr Whittaker. I feel that I look younger and can now wear make up without the annoyance of droopy eyelids.

I am writing to thank you and your theatre team for the work you carried out in removing the cancerous tissue from my wife’s lower eyelid. I am especially grateful for the sympathetic care she received from everyone involved. There was no post-operative swelling or bruising. Following removal of the stitches there is virtually no evidence of a delicate operation having taken place. You said at the time that you were entirely satisfied with the way it went – you should know that your patient is entirely happy with the result!

I have suffered from severe short sightedness in both my eyes since childhood and in the last few years my right eye has rapidly deteriorated. Karl Whittaker and his team have also been monitoring and controlling the Ocular Hypertension and as both my eyes have recently developed cataracts it was suggested that I had the lenses replaced.

This outpatient operation undertaken by Karl and his team at Barnstaple Hospital has transformed my eyesight. My long distance sight is better than it has been since I was a child and I even get pleasure from being able to see the trees into which I hit my golf ball!
