Symptoms of a Watery Eye
Watering of the eye can be a nuisance or an embarrassment. Some patients experience blurred vision, particularly when reading. In some cases, the surrounding skin can become sore from the constant wiping of tears.
How Are Tears Produced and Where Do They Go?
Tears are produced by the lacrimal gland, which lies underneath the outer aspect of the upper eyelid.
They are drained away via two small holes called ‘punctae’ in the inner aspect of the upper and lower eyelid margins;
from there, the tears make their way into the nose and throat.
